Thanksgiving day was last week. This is a time where families and friends get together to discuss what they are thankful for, eat, and enjoy each other’s company. The typical answers to “What are you thankful for?” is usually 1. Family, 2. God. 3. Health, 4. Material Blessings. However, in reality how do we show our appreciation to our family and others? Its usually when they are no longer with us or after a tragic event. It is important to be thankful on a daily basis as many wish they had family members surrounding them.
Friday, was a big day for many who are avid Black Friday shoppers. They plan all year for this one day to shop and save money for Christmas gifts, etc. I am always amazed at the amount of time people camp outside of Best Buy,Walmart, etc. to get the best deals on certain products. Fortunately, throughout this time of being thankful, many have continued to donate towards our toy drive with the desire to help children and families who are not as fortunate as themselves. We are at 65% towards our targeted goal. It has been a great experience receiving donations from friends, families and strangers who “want to help families during Christmas time.” We are looking forward to shopping and walking out of the store with numerous shopping carts over flowing with toys to help bring smiles, wide eyes and joy to the families in our program.
I am thankful for my family, my health and my ability to help others. I also recognize without the support of others this vision couldnt be a reality. So to all out there, especially my wife, “Thank you!”
