In November 2016, I was able to visit Haiti and stay at an orphanage in Port Au Prince. During my 5 day stay, I was able to spend time with over 200 kids and teenagers, while providing therapy and support in their native tongue, of Haitian Creole. It was my first trip to my parent’s native land and it was humbling as well as exciting for me. The Haitians I encountered were resilient and showed happiness despite the numerous challenges they faced daily. I learned a lot from them and hope to return in the near future.
