We are less than a month away from the conclusion of our 2nd Annual Toy Drive. We are at 52% of our targeted goal amount. There are days where the donations are slower than others but I must remind myself people do want to help but out of sight and out of mind kicks in. So the reminders are helpful. The STEP team is beginning to highlight Toys in various circulars, looking for the best deals.
We recently tried to partner up with Jerk Hut, a Carribbean restaurant in Tampa, to use as a drop off location, which we thought would be beneficial to both parties. We would have a closer location in Tampa for donations and Jerk Hut would show their involvment in the community as well as having additional foot traffic to their restaurant. Unfortunately, our offer was denied by management as they felt “storage would become an issue.” Never giving up, Supportive Therapy Empowering People met with Glenn Swan , CEO of Naranja Events, and he seems interested in supporting our Toy Drive efforts. He strongly believes in giving back to the community and helping needy families. We are scheduled to discuss further ideas and ventures Tuesday evening. There is potential room to grow and allow STEP to help families year round.
This would be great as children should feel happy not only during the holidays, but birthdays, graduations as well as “just because” days. STEP hopes to continue to give back to the community and make a difference.
