7 days to our goal of $5,000

The toy drive is down to its last week. We have made tremendous strides in the donations received. We are 90% of our goal and actually less than $500 away from attaining $5, 000. That is amazing the more I think about it and says alot about my friends and family members. I have also met some individuals who believe in the STEP mission and have backed us 100%. We went with our 5 page list to Walmart to start the shopping process. Im glad we decieded to break this task into a few days instead of just one because it got really overwhelming quick. Just flipping through the pages and looking for a particular toy that a particular child asked for. Then at times we came across logistic problems such as not enough”Black baby dolls” or we couldnt find the right size skates. Luckily, we have time to visit various stores because we want to get what kids really want.

Some of the STEP interns have mysteriously turned into elves, Shannon, Brenda and Trisha have done a geat job beginning to separate the purchased gifts and wrapping them up. Last year, we were hoodwinked when buying wrapping paper as we brought some that had more cardboard than actual paper. But you wont fool me two years in a row. Nope.

Anyway, this morning we gave one of the families gifts for each child and the facial expression of that child and the mother reminded all of us why we are intent on making this Toy Drive a success.

Our most recent toydrive was another success. We received over $8,000 in cash donations as well as numerous toy donations. We were able to put smiles on the faces of numerous children and families. We love being able to provide cheers during the holiday season!
