Presently, he has his own private practice, Supportive Therapy Empowering People. He is also an adjunct professor at USF. He teaches SW classes in the Master’s Level program.
Mr. Vilmenay uses Strength Based Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy primarily in his work as many of today’s children are frustrated by only hearing what they have done wrong. “I focus on the positive while still addressing the negative.” This approach in conjunction with an empathic and relaxed style has enabled Mr. Vilmenay to build strong therapeutic relationships with families, especially those feeling helpless, depressed, angry, lonely or hurt.
Mr. Vilmenay is married over 17 years and has two sons. He spends a lot of his time playing with his kids. He enjoys sports and is an avid listener of music and books. Mr. Vilmenay enjoys running and has completed numerous 5Ks, 10Ks and Half Marathons. He hopes to complete a full marathon in the fall of 2015 or early 2016. He has gone skydiving! He is definitely not the typical therapist.
