I went to Sun Trust Bank hoping they could sponsor our Angel Tree requests but their response was they work exclusively with Toys for Tots. I’ve come across that a lot. Toys for Tots is a nationally recognized brand which does great work and it makes it hard to compete in the same division with them. Kinda like the Big Bad Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays. On the surface the Yankees have all the big names and the high payroll but what makes up for the difference in payroll is the intangible called heart and determination, which the Tampa Rays have a lot more. It’s kinda ironic Im from “New Yawk” but call Tampa my home now. I believe in the STEP cause and I know its worth it so I will keep at it. The funds will come through some how and some way. It is frustrating though.
Anyway, last night I did receive notification of another old school friend of mine making a donation, just as he said he would. That definitely brought a smile to my face.
